Homes for Our Troops Delivers 400th Specially Adapted Home to Veteran

Homes for Our Troops has delivered its 400th specially adapted, custom home to Marine LCpl Alberto Flores Jr. and his family in New Braunfels, Texas.

The new home features more than 40 major special adaptations, such as widened doorways for wheelchair access, a roll-in shower and kitchen amenities that include pull-down shelving and lowered countertops. The main bathroom is wheelchair accessible featuring a very large shower and built in shower bench.

The home also alleviates the mobility and safety issues associated with a traditional home, including navigating a wheelchair through narrow hallways or over thresholds, riding on carpets or reaching for cabinets that are too high. HFOT donated the home thanks to contributions from donors, supporters and corporate partners.

Companies that contributed include Cosentino, ABC Supply, Texas Roadhouse, Sherwin Williams, Shaw Industries, Miter Brands, Wayfair, Patriot Coolers and Populus Financial.
