Builder Partnership Brings Accessibility and Universal Design to Projects

Oregon-based Sierra James Construction is partnering with LiveAble Homes, a leader in accessibility, universal design and aging-in-place education on its projects. The partnership will work to change the conversation around accessibility, shifting it away from clinical or institutional associations toward something that feels integrated, intentional and genuinely beautiful.

Through the lens of universal design, homes can be built or remodeled so people of all abilities are comfortable and supported. This means spaces that welcome visitors of all abilities, allow for safer recovery from injuries or surgeries, and make it possible for homeowners to remain in their homes longer as they age.

A result of the partnership, Sierra James Construction clients now have the opportunity to consult with LiveAble Homes during the design phase. During this consultation, homeowners gain access to specialists who work in accessibility and universal design. LiveAble Homes works directly with individuals and families navigating a wide range of real-life scenarios, such as planning for aging in place, preparing for a family member to move in, recovering from injury, or designing proactively for the future.

In addition, clients have the optional opportunity to pursue LiveAble Home Certification, verifying that a home meets nationally recognized accessibility standards and has been thoughtfully evaluated for comfort, safety and long-term livability. Learn more here.
