AMA: CMS Hospital-at-Home Waiver Extended for Five Years
Congress recently extended a proven, physician-led model that provides hospital-level care at home through 2030. The American Medical Association recently reported on what this means for Medicare patients and their physicians, as well as for older Americans aging in place.
The Acute Hospital Care at Home waiver extension was part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026. It gives some certainty to the home-care initiative that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services launched in response to the COVID-19 public health emergency.
