Maryland Nonprofit Receives Dual Grants
The Live Together Community, a nonprofit organization founded in 2019, has been awarded two grants to further expand its work and provide validation of this community-living model. Core principles of Live Together highlight intergenerational living and person-centered care.
The first grant comes from Carla Itzkowich in memory of her father, Moisés Itzkowich, and supports the predevelopment work for an intergenerational care model and demonstration project on the Frostburg State University campus and an adjacent site owned by the city of Frostburg, Maryland.
The second is a subaward through the Maryland Department of the Environment. The grant-winning proposal was completed with CleanHealth Environmental, LLC and was awarded through the Environmental Protection Agency’s pollution-prevention grant program, which includes an environmental justice component. The project addresses workforce development, a core tenant of Live Together, specifically focusing on environmental services workers; chemical use reduction; safer, effective chemicals for disinfection; and protection of the indoor air quality for residents, staff and visitors.
