‘Designers Blueprint for What People Want in Their Home’ Webinar to Cover Accessibility, Aging in Place
With plunging existing home sales, falling median existing home sale prices and burgeoning unsold inventories of existing homes according to National Association of Realtors and other organizations, architects and designers need to understand what people really want in a home more than ever before.
At 2:30 EDT on Aug. 22, Jim Nowakowski, a presenter of construction marketing education, delivers the results of independent research on this topic in an online webinar called “A Designers Blueprint for What People Want in Their Home.” The webinar will be based on Accountability Information Management, Inc. research conducted with over 400 consumers.
Accessibility and aging in place will be covered in the webinar.
“Research suggests there will be a 16.1 million net increase in households formed between 2020 and 2040, and 13.8 million of these households will be headed by someone older than 65, simply reflecting the nation’s aging population,” Nowakowski said. “That means 85% of households are from our senior populations. Are designers anticipating that?”
Research, Nowakowski said, points to an awareness of ADA accessibility, but in the “dream home” survey, respondents rated that category with a zero. And yet, there were 157% more people who wanted elevators in their dream homes.
The online, live presentation is AIA-, IDCEC- and NKBA-approved. Registration is open here.
