KCMA CEU Helps Architects Learn How Certifications Provide Value to Cabinets

A CEU especially designed for architects to explore how Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association certifications add value to cabinets that architects specify is taking place 2:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. EDT, Wednesday, Aug. 16. Registration is now open at attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/260946427537581142?source=architect+pr

The course, presented by Chuck Arnold, KCMA vice president of standards & certification, will provide a general overview of residential kitchen and bathroom cabinet testing and certification programs in accordance with the KCMA/ANSI A161.1 Standard, ESP Specification and Severe Use Specification.

Attendees will gain an understanding and appreciation of a wide variety of topics associated with certification, including learning:

  • The A161.1 Quality Certification is an extensive series of tests covering drawers, structure, door operation and finishes required for cabinets to achieve the KCMA A161.1 Quality Certification Seal.
  • The Environmental Stewardship Program was developed to encourage practices that benefit both the environment and the communities served by cabinet manufacturers.
  • The KCMA Severe Use Specification (originally developed by HUD in 1993) has undergone four revisions since KCMA took ownership. The latest version was published in 2017 and KCMA expects to issue an updated version in 2023.
